Responding As The Church

I don’t know about you but it almost feels surreal that the whole world is shutting down with fear. At the same time I’m watching a shift take place in churches and individuals who believe in and follow Jesus.

Here’s what I believe is happening:

1. God is revealing the power of a unified body of believers. I’m seeing it. I especially saw it today when churches across the Nation declared hope in the midst of the fear. Those churches empowered believers to gather outside of their church buildings and some in their buildings to seek God and pray for our nation.

2. An awakening is happening in the church. People who have been asleep when it comes to the power of the Holy Spirit are being woke. There’s been a sleepy and apathetic church. Now we are seeing a powerful and victorious church. One that stands in the resurrection power of Jesus when the trials and struggles come. One that leans into faith, peace and hope when everything else is yelling fear, worry and despair. There is a sense of excitement in the body of Christ. Believers are being awakened in the middle of the night with dreams. Heaven-breathed words are clearly being heard and spoken. Small and large gatherings are seeing salvations, healings, and people are regaining their passion for God’s word. God is moving and many are ready to see more!

When unity and power hit an awakened church, darkness tries hard to push back but it will not win. Don’t be intimidated by the darkness. There is no greater light than a body of people who know their mission, are working together to accomplish it and have all of heaven behind them because of Jesus.

So here’s the verse the Lord led me to:

Isaiah 60

“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you:
All assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the hip.
5 Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy;
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
